Thursday Threads is a reoccurring post where I share all things creative. I invite you to share your latest creations by tagging me on Instagram @summerkitchencreations and using the hashtag #SKCthursdaythreads.
October and early November were extremely busy for me at work and in the kitchen. I spent much of October preserving the last of the harvest. Time spent making applesauce, pickled red beets, freezing squash and much more meant I made little time for stitching and other crafts.
Planning a Fall Fiber Frolic
In addition to preserving food in the kitchen, I also spent my free time planning my November vacation to New England. I termed this vacation my Fall Fiber Frolic. My mom and I planned the vacation around the New England Fiber Festival and then spent a few days touring other parts of New England. The vacation was fantastic! I will publish a post on the Fiber Festival next week.
I’ve never attended a fiber festival or participated in craft workshops before taking this vacation. My mom and I learned the basics of rug hooking and wool felting. Rug hooking is so very relaxing and creative! For me, rug hooking was like painting on a blank canvas with wool. I can’t wait to develop my skills and create new designs!
Stitch Designs
Last month I designed and stitched a simple little Pumpkins & Squash cross-stitch pattern. Stitching the design only took me two to three hours, but I need to determine how I’ll finish the piece. Should I make a small pillow and improve my sewing techniques? Or, should I simply frame the piece to set out on my Thanksgiving buffet? I plan to put the finishing touches on Pumpkins & Squash this month.
I am sharing my Pumpkins & Squash cross-stitch pattern with you for free. Use the link below to get your free copy of my pattern.
I hope you take time to create something you enjoy this month.
